West Coast sea urchins, Hawaiian sea urchin spines and Chinese seed pods - these are just some of the materials that go into the work of Vancouver's S.haddow Jewelry.
In her collection of gold and silver chains, brooches, earrings and headpieces, designer Sherry Haddow uses treasures gathered during her travels in Asia and Europe. Other ingredients include LED lights and electrical circuits with hidden switches, peacock feathers and semi-precious stones.
Haddow's jewelry is designed to make statement. The 23-year-old believes implicitly in art as accessory, and her designs are one-of-a kind pieces meant to complement both classic and flamboyant looks. After spending a year in an artists' community in Lyon, France, Haddow was inspired to return to the West Coast and start similar endeavour there. She is a founding member of a West Vancouver group of artists including ceramicists, painters and sculptors, who are presently planning a spring group show. Haddow currently sells to specialty stores but expansion plans include international art galleries. S.haddow Jewelry is available at Starfire Studio in Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver.
